residential course
details
a
typical program for a 3 night residential course
with
'real staithes'
£245.00 per
person
group
size limited to 8 people...

-
day
one starts
with a cooked breakfast at 7am.... yes we know it's early but the 'time &
tides wait
for no man or woman...' so you need to be ready to leave the cottage by 8am...
-
the morning will be
spent on the foreshore... checking the lobster pots and longlines...
beachcombing... exploring rock pools... bird watching...while keeping an eye out for jet and fossils - this is the Jurassic
coast - so watch out for the dinosaurs... learning about the mining
history... flasks and homemade snack
will be provided to keep you going..
-
lunch will be waiting
for upon your return to the
cottage... there will be the option of a boat trip in the afternoon
(weather permitting) aboard Sean's boat 'All
My Sons'... when you will be able to see the village from the sea...
try your hand at rod fishing... don't forget your cameras... it's a great photo opportunity...
-
after the boat trip you
will be free to explore the village or area... Monday evening is lifeboat practice in Staithes so you will get the chance to see and photograph
the local lifeboat... maybe going into Whitby for your supper...
-
day
two starts
the same as day one... with a cooked breakfast at 7am so you can be ready to
leave the cottage by 8am... this time we will be heading south along the rocks to
Port Mulgrave...
-
Port Mulgrave, as the
name suggests, was once a port and was part of the Mulgrave estate... today Port
Mulgrave is full of fishermen's huts... it's here that a picnic lunch will be
waiting for you... there will be plenty of time for you to explore this part to
the rugged north east coast... before a climb up the cliff... then it's a scenic
walk along part of the Cleveland Way... with wonderful views out to sea... and
along the coast with Boulby Cliff dominating the vista... the walk will bring
you back to Staithes down Church Street which leads straight to the cottage...
where perhaps a rest or a cup of tea maybe the order of the day... however you
choose to fill it... we suggest a few hours of 'free time'...
-
to round off
the day we
will all have supper and a 'de-briefing' together at the cottage... and for
those who wish finish the evening at one of the local pubs...
-
on
the final morning breakfast will be at 8am... giving you time maybe for a quick walk
around the village before leaving the cottage by 10.00am...
-
if
you would like to see the course as a 'timetable'...
please
note: the minimum age for this course is 12
years....
all children must be accompanied by an adult...
note: some of the timings mentioned here
may change due to the tides...
